How I envision the future of advertising

Hello! I am Olle, the founder and CEO of Parasition. For this week's letter, I want to talk about how I envision the future of advertising. In short, I think it will be quite different.

First lets break down how advertising works today:

Ads are all around us; they are literally everywhere. Whether you are sitting at the bus stop, going to the store, listening to the radio, or using your phone, ads are present. They are forced upon us, and we do not have any say in the matter. Whether or not we like it, we are affected by ads.

Dilemmas caused by this:

This is the way it has always been; we are used to having no say whatsoever when it comes to advertising. But if there is one thing humans today hate more than anything else, it is the feeling that they or whatever they do doesn’t matter. Eventually, people start to hate advertising, and I think we are seeing this shift today. People are not fond of advertising, especially not when they are fed so much nonsense, so instead of actually paying attention and watching the ads, we neglect them. Although all attention is good attention, a good impression is always better than a bad one.

Is there another way? Yes, advertising could be made interactive. But what do I mean by interactive? It is possible to create a world where everyone can be both consumers and producers, allowing all to participate and benefit monetarily from the advertising industry. This is possible due to recent changes in social media and the development of AI.

The changes I’m talking about:

  • Everyone are able to create content that goes viral: Content over creator, the following and brand of a creator matters less and less, what matters is how good each piece of content is.

  • Briefs will be the most important thing in the social media space, if you can create great briefs you will be able to create great content and campaigns.

  • Everyone will become a creator, the lines between creators and consumers will blur due to the democratization of content, making content creation easier.

  • AI, none of the above would be possible to manage at a large scale without AI overseeing and managing every step.

With that said, I think the future of advertising will be a world where everyone is able to take part in advertising campaigns. It will be a much more interactive process between consumers and producers, where the lines are blurred.

If you think about it, much of this is already happening today. When people go to the gym, take a photo, and upload it to Instagram, they are inherently advertising the gym without getting paid for it. Another example is when people go on holiday and take a photo of the plane, directly advertising the airline, again without receiving payment. We already live in a world where the lines between consumer and producer/advertiser are becoming increasingly blurred; we just aren’t getting paid for it. There is a massive opportunity for advertisers to tap into this existing behavior and direct it in ways that align with their advertising and campaigns. Doing so invites consumers to also be producers and enables everyone to earn money from advertising and social media. This will lead to more authentic, fully organic, and far more effective advertising that will benefit everyone.

Parasiton is at the forefront of this transition, currently working with the biggest record labels in the world that are advertising through people who want to participate in their campaigns. We have three main focus areas:

  • We make it easy for everyone to create great content by using AI and community collaboration.

  • We also simplify the process for companies to develop effective campaigns with tools like our AI brief generator, launching next week, and Parasition.love, which is going live in the next few days.

  • We are building a strong and extensive community that collaborates and aligns with our mission to democratize advertising and create a world where everyone can earn money on social media.

We will see where the future of advertising takes us, but we know that it will be interactive and that Parasition will be the driving force.

This is all I had on my mind for this week!

Thank you for reading 😃 ♥️

All the best, Olle.
